http://instagram.com/p/VyIwZhGhKG/ On the beginning of this
year, I am honored enough to introduce several Mendeley advisor experiences that
received some references.

  • Edanz
    interview

October 2012, I visited Edanz
group to take part in a private seminar of Dr. Victor Henning. Kindly enough,
Edanz offered an interview with me.
Here is a quote:

“through using tools or platforms such as
Mendeley, that will lead to a kind of natural progression to a more
open way of thinking and more understanding and acceptance of these
ideas. Having both an input and output in terms of uploading your
papers and getting people to see and cite them, naturally leads to
these kind of barriers to openness being reduced or destroyed. I
think that it will bring down a lot of other barriers as well, just
through the inherent openness of the system.” “A researcher may
write an article and rather than submitting it to a journal, they
could, in a sense, submit it to Mendeley, put it into the Mendeley
system. And then readers download it from there. So in such a kind
of system, Mendeley would, in a way, be replacing the role of the
journal, or doing away with the role of the journal. And rather
than concerns about the impact factor of the journal being
submitted to, it would become more about the impact that the actual
article itself has.” Interview with Keita Bando | edanz editing

My own MyOpenArchive, Mendeley (my beloved!) and altmetrics
as my primary interest…these are not whole example of Open Access
movement as my supreme mission. But 4 key phrases represent my
understandings and vision for further effort. Hopefully you get
some idea out of my advocate.

  • Mendeley
    newsletter article

Mendeley is also a
publisher of 2 newsletters (as far as my knowledge enters)–the one
being for librarian, the other being for Mendeley advisor–I am
grateful to be on the both newsletters at the same period.

Mendeley Librarian Newsletter - January 2013

— Tools for the Future of Research— What are your
favorite tools for research? What do you recommend to others to use
in their research? JISC recently released a report naming their top
seven predictions for the future of research and Mendeley made the
list! Check out all seven predictions in their full report.
Additionally, one of our enthusiastic Mendeley Advisors, Keita
Bando, recently spoke about the future of Japanese research and
included Mendeley in his forecasts. Check out his full
interview.

— ADVISOR OF THE MONTH — This month we’re tipping
our hat to Keita Bando and recognizing his continued Mendeley
enthusiasm. If you’re looking for inspiration or example have a
look at what Keita’s been up to and what he has planned for the
coming year. Bio: Keita Bando is Managing Director of
MyOpenArchive, an international Non-Profit Organization that
advocates Open Access. Keita is well-known among the international
community of Open Access, because of his involvement in the
following activities: OpenAccessDay (Tokyo Japan, October 2008),
OpenAccessWeek and many international conferences such as Open
Repositories, CERN workshop on Innovations in Scholarly
Communication and Open Repositories 2012. Quote: Keita on
Mendeley’s potential to help facilitate change toward more
scholarly openess in a recent edanz interview. “Through using tools
or platforms such as Mendeley, that will lead to a kind of natural
progression to a more open way of thinking and more understanding
and acceptance of these ideas…I think that it will bring down a
lot of other barriers as well, just through the inherent openness
of the system.” How have you promoted Mendeley? Keita has done
extensive Mendeley promotion and teaching. Some of Keita’s
contributions as an advisor include: Mendeley will have an impact
on the library. Workshop: Mendeley Institutional Edition. May 29,
2012. Mendeley WorkShop for ku-librarians. Kyoto University
Library. August 3, 2012. Introduction of “New possibilities for
Mendeley Institutional Edition” Yokohama. The 14th Library Fair
& Forum. November 20, 2012. See his Mendeley Profile for
links to these presentations and more! We will continue to feature
one advisor each month to help increase advisor visibility and
recognize all the fantastic work advisors are achieving worldwide.
So keep your eyes peeled, you could be next!

The
more I love the service, the more I act for the service. Simply
put, thus I am a Mendeley advisor. Now around the world 1,600 and
more Mendeley advisors coming on… I am humbly wishing to be “only
one” of Mendeley advisor, not the number one. That is how I hope
for further effort.

  • Library exhibition
    movie

I was honored to be asked to speak at
Library
Fair & Forum 2012
(Japanese) along with Victor.
The movie was uploaded on Swets
youtube channel
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIMfiYMt6Xg I am grateful to have
these experiences, but more grateful for these publications. As I
had a good harvest last year, why don’t we keep on some seeding for
spring. P.S.

Mendeley! :)

Mendeley
Open
Mendeley
Mendeley
